About

Dejima was for centuries the point of exchange between Japan and the Netherlands. Shin-Dejima is a new meeting place built around film.

Concept

We bring films by Japanese filmmakers to audiences in Amsterdam and follow each screening with a discussion. Questions and reactions from Amsterdam are passed back to the filmmakers in Japan.

The festival also aims to build lasting connections between artistic and academic communities.
